Berry Beet Detox Smoothie

Berry Beet Detox Smoothie

Clean, refreshing, filling and a micronutrient super star, this is a favorite fall and winter smoothie using local root vegetables, apples, winter spinach and herbs combined with some precious Florida citrus. The wild blueberries give it a pop of flavor and they are rich in health promoting minerals, fiber, and have one highest concentrations of antioxidant polyphenols (anthocyanins). Even when frozen, wild blueberries promote gut, heart and brain health while supporting detoxification.

This could be a snack, or a meal, when you add 1oz of raw or dry roasted nuts or seeds. I like to have 1oz of sprouted almonds to crunch on while drinking this smoothie for lunch or 1oz of pastured or wild sourced animal protein.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Apple

  • 1 Carrot

  • 1/2 Beet

  • 1/2 cup Spinach or Other Leafy Green

  • 1/4 cup Parsley or Cilantro

  • 1/4 Organic Wild Blueberries (fresh or frozen)

  • 1/2 Lemon

  • 3/4-1 cup cold filtered water

Instructions:

  1. Rinse all ingredients.

  2. Juice lemon, strain for seeds.

  3. Quarter apple and cut out core.

  4. Wash beet and carrot with soft brittle brush, cut off crown and tip and cut in quarters.

  5. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend.
