Dr. Henry G. Bierler was an early figure in medicine who used diet and food to support healing. This Broth Recipe is one of his foundations for cleansing, detoxifying and balancing pH. Rich in methylated B vitamins, supporting liver detoxification. High in chlorophyll, supporting blood detoxification and building. Alkaline and mineral rich! Adding something like this, green, fresh and lightly cooked, is a great way to balance modern, refined and process foods.
Ingredients:
zucchini squash
green beans
celery
parsley
Extra virgin olive oil -or- unsalted organic butter
Filtered water
How to:
Cut up equal amounts of zucchini squash, green beans (frozen or fresh) and celery. (Chop the celery 1/2 inch or less to eliminate stringiness.)
Steam until soft using filtered water in a pot.
Fill blender 1/2 full with the vegetables and the water used for steaming. Add a small handful of chopped raw parsley. Blend to a consistency of pea soup (or, as desired). Great and beneficial without this step, if pea soup consistency doesn’t appeal to you!
Add small amount of unsalted organic raw butter or preferably extra virgin olive oil.
For variety and to suit your own taste, try adding garlic, onions, cayenne pepper, ginger, herbs, like Turmeric or Cumin.
If you have some left over, it can be served cold as a green gazpacho by adding fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice.
